Neighborhoods First: also known as N.F.

Global Youth Development, Inc: also know as G.Y.D.I.

 To:

Neighborhood and Home Owner Associations in:

1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, Districts, Kansas City , Missouri

Dear Fellow Presidents:

I am reaching out to neighborhood association and home owner association presidents in each of the six districts.  I have sent email to some presidents and or contact persons. If you receive this email and you are no longer a president or contact person for your organization, please contact me and let me know.  If possible please include the new president or contact email address, and/or pass this email on to the proper person; thank you.

Parent Corporation, Global Youth Development, Inc a Public Charity, 509 (a) (1) not for profit corporation.  Sister Corporation, Neighborhoods First, a non-partisan, Not for Profit Corporation. Both G.Y.D.I. and N.F. has been involved in neighborhood issues since 1998, (see www.gydi.org/nf, insight of G. Y.D.I. and N.F.).

G.Y.D.I. will appoint N.F. to expand involvement to each of the six districts; N.F. is reaching out to both, neighborhood associations and home owner associations, but N.F. will include both under the name of neighborhood association presidents’ council.

N.F. will create a neighborhood association and home owner association, presidents’ council, in each of the six districts.  Each month, or agreed time frame, the board of directors of each association will meet with their membership to discuss the issues which involve their own neighborhood. N.F. understands that each neighborhood is unique and has its own special issues.

When the combined six districts have formed the neighborhood association presidents’ council, then each district will appoint/elect one president to sit on the lead neighborhood association presidents’ council, this council will take the lead by bringing the combined agreed upon issues to the six district city council members, the mayor, and city manager.  If the lead presidents’ council does not receive the attention expected, then the combined six district neighborhood association presidents’ council will meet with the six city council members, the city manager, and the mayor. Once again if not receiving the response expected or a very good explanation, new people will be selected to run for office.

The issues NF will undertake will come from the neighborhood presidents, their boards of directors and members.  N.F. wants to work to bring back the quality of life and safety neighborhoods need and deserve, making Kansas City a better place to live.

N.F. will take on Issues such as:

Banks “Red lining”,

Absentee landlords

Absentee Property Owners

Abandoned Properties, usually turning into drug houses

Too high a concentration of Section 8 properties in an area

Section 8 properties not maintained

The city or state using Eminent Domain; the taking of private land for public use, but also used to please some developer/contributor.

N.F. could explore making contact with the Kansas City , Missouri School District ’s Superintendent; find out what he or she needs from the school board, teachers union, and/or the community. We could arrange a meeting with your local district elected school board member and discuss what they are doing to help the superintendent or the schools, what is expected of them.  They represent our children through us, and if they do not represent what we want for our children, then we have the power to recall them and replace them with someone who will represent our objectives as concerned parents.

The combined effort by the six neighborhood association presidents’ council could explore changing city ordinances and/or codes to the benefit of neighborhoods.

The doors are open; by combining neighborhoods in different districts we will have a strong voting block that cannot go unheard.

I would like to call for a meeting at which we will divide people into small groups, talk about what issues are affecting your neighborhood what changes you would like to see. When we have determined the most important issues we will design a game plan and move forward.

Please take this idea to your board of directors and request your association to be approved to be represented.  Contact me if you’re interested and email me your board meeting schedules so a meeting time can be set at a later date.

Remember, issues and needed changes are won with large numbers participating.  The more associations participating in this council, the stronger the neighborhood voice for making Kansas City a safer and more livable city.

Please contact me as soon as possible and let me know if you and your neighborhood association would like to be part of the great new undertaking, several neighborhoods have already joined and want to move forward NF wants you to be part of this new team.

If you are not now the president of your association, please pass this email on to the current president and respond back to me with their email address.

Neighborhoods First goal is to do just that, take back our local city government and improve the Kansas City , Missouri School District .

Sincerely,

James E. Grow, Chairman of the Board
